Offering a true Kentucky golfing experience, players will delight in the par-72, 6,800-yard Griffin Gate Golf Club. The course, with four sets of tees and features five par 5’s and five par 3’s, provides for a very scenic round set among 250 acres of meadows and Kentucky bluegrass. The course underwent an extensive bunker renovation which was completed in mid-2015.
There are some great courses in the area to consider adding to your playlist including two Pete Dye designs, Kearney Hill Golf Links and Peninsula Golf Resort, and Thoroughbred Golf Club at High Point.
Great Local Favorites
In addition to several casual fare restaurants including JW’s Lounge, 19th Hole, and Top Deck, Griffin Gate’s guests can enjoy fine dining featuring locally sourced ingredients at JW’s Steakhouse. Or head into town to grab some great eats at local favorites like Smithtown Seafood, Goodfella’s Pizza, Joe Bologna’s, or Tolly-Ho.
The local area around the resort is full of great places to check out during your stay, including Keeneland race track which hosts thoroughbred racing in April and October, the Kentucky Horse Park, and the University of Kentucky.
Bourbon aficionados can create their own adventure along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail visiting Town Branch right in Lexington, as well as nearby distillers including Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey, Four Roses, Jim Beam, and Maker’s Mark. In fact, Griffin Gate partnered with Maker’s Mark to create a personalized house bourbon for the resort.
