Spieth’s shot itself from the Royal Birkdale driving range wasn’t anything spectacular, but the spectacle that led up to it was. Facing implosion after playing the front nine in 3-over par and taking an unplayable lie off the tee, this 3-iron led to a great up-and-down for a bogey five that would spark his 5-under par stretch over the next four holes.
