5. Backstopping

Perhaps the most hot-button topic among golf circles towards the end of the PGA Tour season (before the golf ball debate took back over that honor) was the practice of backstopping. Players choosing to leave their balls unmarked in close proximity to the hole rubbed many the wrong way, claiming that the buddy-buddy atmosphere on Tour leads to players failing to protect the field by giving playing partners an unfair advantage.
