Torrey Pines Golf Course – 12th hole par 4, 504 yards
South Course, San Diego
Year: 2008
The fifth at Torrey Pines only reads 504 on the card but plays much longer than that considering it’s uphill usually into the wind off the Pacific Ocean. During its only U.S. Open, it played more than half a stroke over par (4.58). “It’s over 500 yards into the wind and was designed as such because we wanted the best players in the game to have to hit a long iron into that green,” said Rees Jones, who redesigned the course.
