10 Toughest Holes In U.S. Open History – Page 7

Southern Hills Country Club – 18th hole, par 4, 466 yards

Tulsa, Oklahoma
Years: 1958, 1977, 2001

This extremely difficult finishing hole at Southern Hills is dogleg right which plays to an elevated green. The biggest challenge is how severely it’s pitched from back to front.  In 1971, the field scored 4.64 on it. In 2001, it played to a 4.43. This was the site where Retief Goosen won in a Monday playoff after nobody could hit a putt on the 18th to close it out.
