4. Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy is the great unknown coming into this U.S. Open. Similarly to 2015 at St. Andrews, Erin Hills seems to set up perfectly for the long, high-hitting Northern Irishman, but injury has cast doubt on his prospects once again. Having been forced to take some time off due to the resurfacing of his back/rib injury, McIlroy hasn’t played competitively since the Players Championship.
McIlroy insists he’s fit and his game is ready to win another major, but a perfect setup and opportunity for him still has a shadow of doubt cast upon it.
