Like Fowler, DJ’s form was trending in the right direction before a head-scratching missed cut at Muirfield Village. However, with Dustin, there’s no doubt that a MC can roll right off of his back. Like many others on this list, the defending U.S. Open Champion’s game fits perfectly for Erin Hills.
The only concerns come in the form of distraction for the usually undistractable Johnson. Could his off-the-course life have an effect on his play (his fiancee gave birth to their second child on Monday)? Likely not, so that puts DJ in position to become the first back-to-back U.S. Open champion since Curtis Strange.
