This past year marked the 25th anniversary of Phil’s win as an amateur at the PGA Tour’s Northern Telecom Open. In a recent interview, Phil recalled how he predicted the win a few months earlier when he and his family wrote down three goals they had for the year and put them in a vase during Christmas. The then junior at Arizona State won the tournament with a birdie on the 72nd hole. He still remains as the last amateur to win a PGA Tour event.
