July of 1993. Portland, Oregon. This was when 17-year-old Tiger Woods began to cement his place as one of golf’s all-time greats. Tiger stood at two down with two holes to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. Tiger channeled his killer instinct and birdied 17 and 18 to force an extra hole. He sank a four-footer for par on the first playoff hole to make history – Tiger’s third straight U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. Unprecedented. Maybe it was the hat.
