7. The Players Championship
Usually, a four-shot victory will not make the list of top tournaments of the year, but World No. 1 Jason Day tied the course record on Thursday and didn’t cool off after that, putting on quite the entertaining show. Some of the games best were trying to claw their way up the leaderboard to catch Day, but he kept the composure and killer instinct to raise the trophy on Sunday afternoon. Day finished at 15-under 273 and earned $1.89 million, the richest payoff for a single event in golf.
