3. Ryder Cup
Europe entered the tournament as the cup holders, having won in 2014 to cap off three straight Ryder Cup victories. Team USA had only one goal in mind: get the Ryder Cup back on American soil. After the great Arnold Palmer had passed away earlier in the week, one of the bags from his captaincy in the 1975 Ryder Cup was placed on the first tee during Friday’s opening foursomes in his honor. Team USA ran away with this one, never trailing during the entire tournament. Two days after the match’s conclusion, the majority of Team USA attended Palmer’s public memorial in Pennsylvania. The trophy was present as well, per request of Palmer’s daughter Amy. You couldn’t make up a better ending in light of the circumstances. Plus, we got this instant classic photo of Rickie being Rickie.
