When you find yourself off the fairway with a brutal lie in the rough, try this strategy to ensure you have enough loft and can keep the club moving through the ball without getting caught up in the rough.
Taking one more club, when you address the ball, open the clubface a bit. This does two things for us: it gives some room for error if the clubface gets turned down by the rough and it provides us with a little more loft.
Playing for a bit of a cut with that open clubface, make a good aggressive swing. Our whole objective is to get the ball out of this lie and up near the green.
