We’re going to go over a short game to help you get the ball up and down more and talk about choosing clubs around the green.
I’ve got a long chip shot downhill, probably 75-80 feet away, in a little light grass. I’ve got my high toe 58-degree TaylorMade and in order to hit a 58 down there, I have to take a pretty big swing. I have to try to keep the loft off of it and have to try to fly it pretty far down. That shot required a big swing, a lot of energy, and a lot of effort.
The second club selection I’ve got is an 8 iron. If I look at this and say, I can bump an 8 iron a couple of feet on the green and let it roll down to the hole, that sounds pretty easy. It’s a little swing and I’m not bringing any risk into this.
Do the easiest thing that requires the least amount of effort. Use all the clubs in your bag, get versatile, and you’ll get more shots up and down and stop knocking ‘em over the green.
