Goldilocks Method For Avoiding Sucker Pins

It’s not uncommon to find yourself facing what we call a “sucker pin,” or a pin placement that brings a lot of trouble into play. When picking your target for a sucker pin, I like to employ the “Goldilocks method,” not too risky, not too safe, but just right.

Looking at the green, move your eyes from the pin to the safe side of the green. When your eyes reach a spot that isn’t too risky, but also not too conservative that it once again brings the possibility of dropped shots into play, you know you’ve found the sweet spot and you can swing aggressively to that target.
