To hit some high soft shots, come in with a shallow angle. Hit the pitches without much wrist hinge, so your angle approach is super shallow. Most of the energy in these shots is going to come from your body motion. The ball will pop up right in the air, the ground is totally safe, the loft got under the ball, life is good.
