We hear a lot of people talk about “releasing the putter.” Think about the release as the putterhead going from one side of the handle to the other, not blocking or holding the handle in front of the putterhead.
A good way to feel the putter releasing is to immobilize your trail shoulder. Letting the putter pass by the handle allows the energy to stay in the head of the club and not in your body helping the putter through the impact zone.
