2025 PGA Teacher of the Year Jason Baile shares one of his go-to drills for improving short pitch shots. Using an alignment stick where the ball would be, the goal is to feel your right side—hip, knee, and shoulder—finish past the stick, just like a simple underhand toss. This helps train your body to send all your energy toward the target.
To reinforce the feel, Baile focuses on maintaining a slight bend in his trail arm throughout the swing. The right side delivers the shot, much like tossing a beanbag in cornhole. If you can keep that motion smooth and directed, you’ll see better control and consistency around the green.
