So you’ve got yourself into a little trouble and you need to go around a tree, so we need to be able to curve the ball on purpose. By swinging from in-to-out or out-to-in, we tilt the spin axis of the ball, which results in the ball curving one way or the other.
Depending on how much you want to curve the ball, your path will need to be exaggerated more one way or the other. Remember, you’ve got to aim the face where you want the ball to start and create your stance to encourage the shot shape you’re intending to hit. From there, be sure to swing along your feet-line to impart the correct amount of spin axis tilt to the ball to create curvature in the flight.
