At a variety of courses, if you miss the fairway, you’ll find yourself in a lot of loose lies, whether it be waste bunkers, pine straw or hardpan run-offs. There are a couple of key steps that you’ll need to employ to escape this situation.

For these lies, we want to club up, choke down, move the ball back in our stance just a hair and create stability. With a little less loft, a little more control and encouraging a descending blow with little lower body movement, you should be able to create good, crisp contact on these tricky shots.
