Our golf coaches have told us that we need to follow through when we’re playing a bunker shot, but when you’re watching the pros on television, you’ll see them hit more of a pop shot out of the bunker, especially when they’re short-sided.

To hit this specialty shot, you’re going to want to open up your wedge to get a lot of loft and then take a similar backswing. After contact, however, there’s not much of a follow-through and the clubface is held open. Work on that shot to understand and feel the amount of energy you’ll need to pop the ball up and out of the bunker and not go too far.
