Pending doom is when you don’t recognize how steep the slope on the green is. It’s when the hole looks like it’s about 30 feet with a little downhill slope, so you hit it like it’s 25 feet, but the ball keeps rolling off the other side of the green. You have to get to the side and see how steep the slope is.

The steeper the slope, the faster the ball will go. If the hole is 30 feet away, you may only need to hit the ball like it’s 6 feet away. Don’t let downhill putts be pending doom.
