Getting the takeaway correct is important for a number of reasons, as it correlates to many other positive aspects of the backswing. We’re looking to get this club on plane after the takeaway and then ultimately at the top on line.
The swing plane station consists of an alignment rod that is set up for your swing plane for the club you are using and a second alignment rod at an angle running roughly from where you would set up and connecting to that. If you can get the takeaway correct, you’re going to get more on plane swings in the mid way back, you’re going to get better top of the swing positions, and then you’re more likely to swing the club down on plane. If you swing it down on plane your path is going to be more neutral, you’re swinging more at the target and you’re going to start hitting straighter golf shots.
