When you’re wondering how far away from the ball you should stand with your driver, there are two things most people do. A lot of players stand way too close and tall, which makes the club go way outside and they’re trying to make room on the downswing, which is very difficult. The other problem we see is amateurs stand too far from the ball when they’re coming through, and they stand up through the impact zone, causing mishits.
To feel better with your driver, stand shoulder-width apart, put the club out in front of you and bend from the ball joints in your hips so that it feels like your hands are more underneath your chin.
