How do you stop thinning or hitting heavy chips? Here’s a simple drill. Place a second golf ball a grip length behind the ball you’re about to hit.

The second golf ball will promote a descending strike onto the golf ball and is enough of a deterrent from coming into the ball too shallow, ensuring you catch that ball first. This will stop those thin and heavy chips.
