Simplify Your Setup For Better Bunker Shots

I really think we — myself included as an instructor — have made bunker setup too complicated.

First of all, I prefer that you aim square because if your stance is open, you have to hit a block, push scoop to the right. Set your feet about a 7-iron stance apart with the ball position just inside your front heel.

You will want to set your hands down, which will mean you’re a little farther from the ball than you normally would, and then lean your nose to the front of the ball. It’s important that we land our club near the ball, but that our divot is in front of the ball.
