Sync Up Your Swing With The 9-To-4 Drill

There’s a go-to drill that would benefit just about any amateur struggling with getting the club into a proper impact position, and it involves significantly shortening up the golf swing — both in terms of the backswing and the follow-through.

Thinking about your swing in terms of the hands on a clock, focus on using your upper body to draw the club back so it’s parallel to the ground and pointing to approximately where 9 o’clock would be. Then focus on feeling the turn with your lower body as you make contact and stop the follow-through at about the 4 o’clock position. It’s a great exercise to ensure all parts of the swing are synced up and reacting to one another.
