Most amateur players struggle to get out of the bunker because of the unknown nature of the shot. More often than not, players are hitting too far behind the ball.
A great drill to find where you should be making contact with the sand is to draw lines in the sand and land the club on the line, short of it and long of it to find the correct distance from the ball your club should be entering the sand.
