When you’re faced with one of the hardest shots in golf — the downhill bunker shot — you first need to make sure you have as much loft as possible in order to get the ball up in the air to clear the lip on the other side of the trap as opposed to attempting to scooping it out.

In order to get under the ball, we need to adjust our setup. By getting your hipline parallel to the slope and allowing your shoulders to relax, you’ll put a fair amount of weight on your lead leg; keep that weight forward. Practice your swing to make sure you have the angle figured out and then hit the shot.
