To optimize our ground reaction forces with linear-rotary and vertical power, we need to make sure we do it in the right sequence.

When we’re doing this, I want you to be aware, when you get to the top of the backswing the first piece is we want that little bit of linear motion. That helps us set the club, the upper body staying stable, your lower body’s firing. Then from here, we start the turn with the rotary part of the golf swing, and then lastly, we work on the vertical part of the golf swing. It’s really important to have that sequential order to maximize the amount of speed that goes into the clubhead. Focus on the top of the backswing, upper body staying away from the target, the lower body fires first linearly. Then as I come down, I start to rotate and then I lose the flex in my lower body. Then I’m going to start pushing up out the ground. That’s the way to maximize your ground reaction force in the downstream.
