WATCH: Become A Great Long-Distance Putter

When it comes to practicing your long putts, the most important thing you can do is just hit some putts, and try and feel a distance that you want to hit the ball without hitting it towards a target, like a hole.

So I’m going to take my dress position here, I’m going to really feel my balance, pressure in my feet into the ground, and I’m going to take the putter back and through and hold my finish, then I’m going to look up.

Now I’m gonna get to the next ball, same thing. Take my address position, back, through, hold my finish.

The biggest reason that people hit the putt short is because they look early and the putter doesn’t accelerate through, and you don’t finish your putting stroke.

So when I stand over this putt, or take a practice stroke, I want to feel the putter goes the same distance back in through and the timing of it is the same.

I look again, one… two. Hold my finish. So right there and then I could feel that I’m going to hit that a little further because I hit it right in the middle of the putter face. Really good stroke. So the more you hit your putts solid, the more they’re going to roll to the distance that you look for.

So practice your long putts. Don’t putt to a hole, just putt to a distance, you’re going to become a great long distance putter.
