The alignment of the club into the downswing is very important for controlling the clubface, the shaft and the handle. Once you’re at the top of the backswing, firing the lower body begins the downswing sequence, which tends to increase the flex in the clubface.

Halfway down the backswing at the P6 position, the sweet spot is still behind the hand path and that’s where the magic happens for the best ball-strikers in the world. As they come into impact, they’re losing that angle between the club shaft and the arms, uncocking the club, squaring up the face, creating speed through the impact area and working to extend the wrists and arms just after contact.
