The WM Phoenix Open is known as much for its festive, rambunctious atmosphere as it is for the world-class golf being played. The tournament’s 16th hole has transformed into a veritable animal house, with thousands of fans gathering to cheer, jeer, and party from dawn to dusk during tournament week.
Dubbed “The People’s Major,” the Phoenix Open celebrates golf as part carnival, part competition, drawing legions of costumed, face-painted, and occasionally over-served revelers intent on enjoying the event in their own not-so-quiet way.
