Bubba Watson had a few things going on last week. There was a little tournament called the Masters taking place, so he had a Champions Dinner to attend Tuesday, a Par-3 Contest to play Wednesday, a 3-under 69 to shoot Thursday, a 54-hole lead to take Friday, a tough 2-over round Saturday, and then another 69 Sunday to clinch his second Masters in three years.
But that didn’t stop Watson from sending a heavy dose of encouragement to Briggs Berry. He’s the 17-year-old golf nut we told you about in February, the inspiring teenager who underwent a bone marrow transplant to fight a rare condition called X-linked hyper IgM.
Berry remains in the hospital six weeks after his surgery, but he received an uplifting gift on Saturday: an autographed 2014 Masters flag from Watson – a little piece of sports memorabilia whose value skyrocketed Sunday after Watson clinched the title. (Ted Scott is Watson’s caddie.)
I just really appreciate @jtedscott and @bubbawatson for the flag! I have never been happier! pic.twitter.com/BF8CpPFcP9

What’s more is early Sunday, prior to taking the course for one of the more pressure-packed rounds of their careers, Watson and Scott were praying for Berry, who met the pro in January during the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
@bubbawatson I meet you at Torrey pines also but right before my transplant!! pic.twitter.com/307z6SFlL7

Soon after Watson’s win, Berry received yet another encouraging tweet from a superstar athlete: Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson.
Praying for you @BriggsBerry to keep overcoming! U r truly an inspiration to @bubbawatson and I. God is shining down on you! #KeepSmiling!

As for Berry’s health status, he proudly reported some thrilling news last week:
