Student Wins $10,000 Thanks to Full-Court Putt

How many 94-foot putts have you made in your life? If you have, it’s highly doubtful that your make from some 30 yards away was as dramatic, pressure-packed or lucrative as Clemson student Christopher Carns.

Selected to participate in Roto-Rooter’s Drain the Putt promotion to win $10,000 during Saturday’s Clemson-Louisville game, Carns nailed the 94-footer to the pleasure of the packed house at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Carns spoke to a Clemson representative following his big putt and he couldn’t contain his excitement.

Carns said while he has a set of golf clubs, he rarely plays the game because he’s “terrible at golf.” No word yet from the USGA on Carns’ amateur status after netting the $10,000 prize.
