Rumors about a break up between one of golf’s most famous and popular couples have been making their way around golf courses and clubhouses around the world this week. Dustin Johnson and his fiancée Paulina Gretzky have been rumored to have broken up, ignited by an Instagram cleanse by Gretzky of all photos depicting Johnson.
Barstool Sports first brought Gretzky’s DJ-less page to light and in the following days, outlets like The Sun and TMZ Sports circulated stories about a possible “friendship” between DJ and golf socialite Yassie Safai, a member at Sherwood Country Club, where Johnson and Gretzky also are members.

“Johnson and California socialite Yassie Safai are said to have struck up a relationship that has infuriated Gretzky, who has been engaged to the 2016 US Open champion for nearly five years,” The Sun reported on Tuesday.
However, by Tuesday evening, both Safai and Johnson had made statements denying any kind of relationship.

“I am not in a relationship with Dustin Johnson nor have we had any prior relationship,” Safai wrote on her Instagram account. “I met Dustin Johnson at Sherwood Country Club. I have run into him at Sherwood maybe four times since then and yes, briefly spoke with him, like I’m sure any avid golfer and member would.
“I am sure he is a great person but we do not have a close friendship. I have never met Paulina Gretzky and do not know the Gretzky family, but again, I am sure they are great people. I have no insight into the rumors around Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky’s relationship. I wish them nothing but the best. I just want to go back to living my normal life.”
Every relationship goes through its ups and downs, but most importantly, we love each other very much and are committed to being a family. Thank you for your love and support.

Johnson followed up both reports with a statement on Twitter on Tuesday evening that read, “Every relationship goes through its ups and downs, but most importantly, we love each other very much and are committed to being a family. Thank you for your love and support.”
