If you find yourself feeling pretty nervous on the first tee, the best thing to do is get lost in the process of hitting your shot.
Take a few deep breaths and think about the type of shot you’d like to hit – shape, trajectory, distance. From there, visualize your shot and make some practice swings that will produce the ball flight you’ve decided on in your head.
Take another deep breath or two, and walk into the ball committed and confident, zero in on your target and go. Leaning on your pre-shot routine in high-pressure situations and losing yourself in your process are the best way to beat those anxious tee shots.
