When you watch some of these blooper videos, you can laugh comfortably knowing that you never have and never will try something as stupid as what you’ve just watched. The video above — fortunately or unfortunately — is not one of those instances.
Who among us hasn’t three- or four-putted a green, picked the ball out of the hole (finally), tossed it up and tried to hit it into the woods or lake nearby with a baseball swing? Hopefully for you and your putter, you’re playing golf because a career in baseball wasn’t in the cards and you whiff. Putters aren’t designed for the wear and tear that the other clubs in your bag are subjected to, so when some serious clubhead speed is generated with the putter, bad things can happen.
It usually only takes making contact once, or even seeing someone else make contact once, to show the ill effects of playing baseball with your putter. Allow this to be a public service announcement to all you short-tempered golfers: if you’re mad at your ball, just throw it into the lake, don’t try and hit it with a putter.
