VIDEO: Golfer Loses His Mind After Missed* Putt

Joke Of The Day

The devil was holding a meeting with all of his little demons.

He stood up and said, “Well, you poor, useless lot of sissies, this guy Jesus is putting too much good into the world. You time-wasters make me sick. You came to hell to make their lives a misery. Instead, you waste your time playing silly games. What are you going to do about it?”

Just then, a small demon — quite new to the job and very timid — sheepishly said, “Oh Lord of Great Darkness, I know I’m not as powerful as you, but may I make a suggestion? It seems to me if we could build them up and knock them down, the pain would be so great that we could soon gain control.”

Just as he said that, a more experienced demon asked, “You mean golf?”

The devil himself interrupted saying, “Steady old man. We don’t want to finish them off that quick.”

My dad & me, Wednesday – 2015 Masters. Today, I want to share our first two memories at Augusta National Golf Club. My first visit was the 1997 Masters – I was 11. Along with two friends, my Dad and I arrived on Monday & spent the day behind the 16th green. I’ll never forget watching Billy Casper & thinking to myself – “Wow, Billy Casper can chip!” Like everyone else, your first day at ANGC is seared into your memory. Six days later, his Scotty Cameron Teryllium putter in hand, I watched from home as Tiger Woods won by 12 shots & changed our sport forever. The following February, my Dad informed me we would be playing ANGC with Teddy Kiegiel, our friend & head pro at Carolina Country Club (where I grew up). When we arrived, I noticed the pro shop had the aforementioned Scotty Cameron putter in stock (it was impossible to find anywhere else). My Dad, sensing how badly I wanted it bartered with me: “shoot a 76 or better & it’s yours.” I stepped onto the 18th tee box +8 for the day & my opportunity to win the putter out of reach. I tried to move the goal posts – asking my Dad if a birdie on 18 could keep the bet alive. He agreed. I hit driver, then three wood to four feet & missed the putt. Whether I cried or not escapes me, but it’s easy to imagine the 12 year old me having a hard time holding it together. A few hours later, at a gas station in Raleigh, my dad asked me to get something out of the trunk for him. I opened the hatch & there, right in front of me was a brand new Scotty Cameron Teryllium putter. When I looked up, he was standing outside the car smiling at me with a familiar smile. He was a hard liner. No meant no – he rarely budged, but today was different, set apart. On this Masters Monday, I’m reminded of him and our first trips to ANGC – & they’re more than just memories. Last April, 23 years after my first trip to ANGC, 23 years after Tiger’s first win there, I played one group ahead of him on the Sunday he won his 4th Green Jacket. I stepped onto the 18th tee box, 4 shots back & the tournament out of reach. I hit driver, 9 iron to 6 feet & made the putt…I bet you can guess who I thought of first. #MastersMemories #TheMasters #Golf
