Channel3000.com in Madison, Wisc. has the story:
A Hazel Green man was killed when his lawnmower overturned at Birchwood Golf Course, according to a release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called at 1:59 p.m. Saturday to the golf course in Hazel Green.
Investigators said James Degenhardt, 77, was mowing a steep embankment when the John Deere lawn mower overturned, rolling on top of him and pinning him between the ground and the mower.
Degenhardt was found by an employee of the golf course.
The Grant County Coroner’s Office, Dickeyville EMS and Jamestown first responders and fire department assisted at the scene.
The next time you’re out on the course, give a wave or head nod to the staff making your course playable. Not only are they working on potentially dangerous equipment, they have to dodge your errant shots as well.
