In a world where technology reigns supreme, some companies in the golf industry seem to be using it to their advantage. High-tech facilities providing non-traditional golf experiences which include top-shelf bars, lounges, and yes, even GPS golf balls, are growing in popularity for golfers and non-golfers alike. Topgolf is probably the most notable example as they keep popping up all around the country. However, you don’t need a driving range to get in the game in 2017. Apparently, augmented reality works fine too!
Let us introduce you to the Golfstream Suite at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas. Think of it as your traditional private golf simulator with a twist. According to their website, the Suite is a “first-of-its-kind golf experience uses augmented reality and laser guidance to take you through a series of fast-paced mini-challenges in a new approach to skill-based contests.” Essentially, the putting surface in front of the screen (which is never usually too realistic indoors) can be altered using lasers for an added dimension of golfing fun.
But wait, there’s more! When you book the suite, you are provided a “caddie” that will help with the gameplay, but more importantly, will keep the food and drinks coming all night (or day) long.
Here’s a look at what you can expect:
