Golfers, in general, tend to overestimate their abilities. A 10 handicap expects to shoot 10-over par or better every time out when the reality of the situation is that players should only better their handicap only 20% of the time.
That overestimation also comes into play when trying to pull off very difficult shots like the one above. Perhaps the golfer above fancies himself a poor man’s Miguel Angel Jimenez and was trying to recreate The Mechanic’s memorable Road Hole shot from the 2010 Open Championship, but the reality of golf can hit you in the face sometimes as it literally did for the golfer above.
