Water Recovery Shot Turns into Water Rescue

Golf is a social sport, and we think it’s fun to share golf experiences; the good, the bad, and the ugly. Partnering with our friends at gottaGolf (The Ball Tracer & Social Golf App), SxS is proud to bring you “Golf Fails brought to you by gottaGolf,” a weekly reminder that golf is… really hard.

Golfers will do anything to save a stroke. There’s no more conflicted feeling in the game than thinking you’ve hit a ball into a hazard, only to see it sitting precariously close to said hazard. The thoughts and rationalizations come fast and furious.

“Should I play it?”

“What if I fall into the water?”

“Am I better off to just take a penalty?”

“Will anyone see if I scoop this ball back onto firm land?”

While every decision is weighted differently depending on the rules of your match and your friends’ desire to see you make a fool out of yourself, you can’t blame the man in the video above for taking on the shot. The ball was sitting too perfectly!

If you’ve ever stepped into a man-made lake, you can empathize will this golfer. The slippery and slimy bank can turn any water hazard into skating rink. One quick stab and our protagonist slowly, but surely continued to slide deeper into the water.

The verdict is in: he probably should have taken a drop.
