Golfers on a Central Florida golf course got quite the scare on Sunday morning when their threesome was nearly involved in a bizarre hit-and-run as a high-speed police chase ripped through Orange Blossom Hills Golf and County Club in The Villages.
Paramedics arrived at the gatehouse of the Country Club Hills community after a 911 call from the guard described a man who said “people were eating his brains out,” according to WFTV.com.
Jesse Charles Webb, 29, was receiving aid from Lake County paramedics when arrived police on the scene to assist the EMTs. Upon seeing the police, Webb jumped into a community watch vehicle and led police on a chase that traversed roads as well as the golf course.
Webb drove through the course onto local streets and back onto the course again when police attempted to use stop sticks to slow him down. Webb crashed the community watch vehicle and took off on foot before being apprehended by a pair of officers.
Webb, who was a wanted man in Georgia, was charged with fleeing and eluding police, motor vehicle theft and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
The manager of the golf course said Webb caused about $7,000 in damages.
