Faldo Plays Nantz’s Pebble Beach Replica Hole

Say what you will about Jim Nantz, but the man is on brand regardless of the setting. That fact was on display earlier this week at his Nantz’s home near Pebble Beach where Sir Nick Faldo, the co-star of the above video, and the rest of the PGA Tour Champions will be teeing it up alongside kids from the First Tee in the Pure Insurance Championship.

Before the tournament got underway on Friday, CBS’ broadcast tandem took to Nantz’s backyard to see if the six-time major champion could put his name into onto another record book rock and join the likes of Brandt Snedeker, Tony Romo and David Feherty who have made aces on the replica of Pebble Beach’s famous par-3 7th hole.

Of course, when it comes to Nantz, there’s ambiance abounding. Nothing sets the mood quite like “Augusta” by Dave Loggins, which is better known as the Masters theme song.

Even with those beautiful tones ringing through Nantz’s backyard, Faldo was unable to jar one. In the tournament proper, Faldo has fired a pair of 71s, one at Pebble Beach and one at Poppy Hills to make the cut at 1-under par. Bernhard Langer sits atop the leaderboard entering Sunday’s final round.
