Monday night’s College Football National Championship game is of special interest to a handful of Tour pros, but Justin Thomas and Kevin Kisner are two of the most outspoken Alabama and Georgia fans, respectively, on the circuit, so it was only natural that the pair made a friendly wager on the outcome.
When it comes to the top-tier of the PGA Tour where both Thomas and Kisner reside, a monetary bet doesn’t quite get the juices flowing. However, the pair decided to put pride and ego on the line with a humiliating payoff to be paid up this week at the Sony Open.

The agreed-upon wager is that whichever team wins, the loser will have to wear a personalized jersey of the winning team during the 17th hole at Waialae Country Club. Seeing a crimson Alabama jersey with “KISNER” or a bright red Georgia jersey with “THOMAS” scrawled across the back seems so wrong, and that’s precisely what makes this bet feel so right.
The only thing that can make this bet better is if the competition committee at Sony pairs JT and Kisner together so that the other can revel in their victory in person.
