Back9Network board member Ray Allen hosted his annual Ray Allen Golf Classic charity tournament on Monday, and it’s safe to say Allen was easy to find. The Heat sharpshooter sported a neon yellow Nike golf shirt and bright orange shorts to go with neon yellow, orange and black Nike Tiger Woods ’14 shoes.
Held at La Gorce Country Club in Miami, the event raises money for the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation and JDRF, one of the top organizations to fund type-1 diabetes research. Allen’s son, Walker, is now 6 years old after being diagnosed with diabetes at 17 months.
“People with type 1 diabetes, including my son, must carefully manage their blood glucose levels throughout each and every day, balancing insulin doses with daily activities,” Allen said at Monday’s event. “Managing this disease is a full-time role that affects the entire family. By supporting critical research, our goal is for all people to know a world without type 1 diabetes.”
On hand to support Allen were Heat teammates LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Roger Mason.
