Tiger Woods is once again a hot commodity in the golf world after his encouraging return to competitive golf earlier this month at the Hero World Challenge. His rejuvenated worth was on full display during a Hurricane Harvey event held at Bluejack National, a course Woods designed.
PGA Tour pros Chris Stroud and Billy Gates put on a fundraiser for hurricane relief that exceeded its $1 million goal, thanks in part to the hefty donation a private lesson with Woods — among other charitable offerings with top-level professional golfers — garnered.

The Houston Chronicle‘s Jenny Dial Creech had the details.
Several golf professionals and area amateurs gathered at the scenic Tiger Woods-designed Bluejack National on Tuesday to play a round of golf for a very good cause.
PGA Tour players and Houston residents Chris Stroud and Bobby Gates, along with Bluejack National, Houston Golf Association and Pro Links Sports hosted the Hurricane Harvey Relief Pro-Am Fundraiser.
Pro players like Stacy Lewis, Patrick Reed and Ben Crenshaw played in the tournament as well as local sports celebrities T.J. Yates, Clyde Drexler and Jim Crane.
As of Tuesday morning, the event had raised more than its $1 million goal.
On Monday night, in an auction to benefit the event, a golf lesson at Bluejack with Woods went for $210,000, giving the fundraiser a boost. Stroud said he intends to keep the fundraising going, especially after seeing how well this event has paid off.
“It’s been amazing,” Stroud said. “This is the best event I have ever been a part of. And this is just the start.
“We have a long way to go for recovery to this city and we want to keep going with this and raise as much as we can and help as many victims as we can.”
