Andy Warhol’s prediction that everyone would have their 15 minutes of fame in their lifetime didn’t account for viral videos. David Johnson, the hero of the build-up to the Ryder Cup thanks to his clutch putting during a Thursday practice round, has at least enjoyed a half hour of fame.
Prior to Stephen Colbert’s nightly talk show, the host answers questions from the crowd, tells jokes and generally warms them up for what’s about to be broadcast across the country on CBS. On Monday night, a not-at-all obvious plant was put into the crowd and called upon to ask the host the final question, which centered around Johnson’s theatrics at the Ryder Cup.
Colbert began to explain the scene to the crowd when a familiar voice piped up.
You can’t knock Johnson for getting the most out of his time in the sun. And to his credit, he buried the putt once again.
