Thinking about quitting your day job to pursue the dream? Seems like a logical idea, until you realize you have responsibilities that probably require a steady income such as a family, mortgage, etc. But what if you were 25 years-old and just finished as the low amateur (T36) at this year’s Masters? That was the “difficult” decision Stewart Hagestad faced when asked by Jim Nantz in Butler Cabin during Sergio Garcia’s green jacket ceremony.
Hagestad currently works as a financial analyst in New York City and at this point, he would rather focus his attention on earning his MBA as opposed to his PGA Tour card. However, on Wednesday he joined CNBC’s Halftime Report and received some interesting job advice from Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary.
“Thank goodness we’ve met, I want you to take a different direction,” O’Leary begins. “On behalf of the millions of us that are really horrible golfers, you have an incredible opportunity.”
“I’ve got 50 MBAs working for me…none of them can golf,” O’Leary added. “Please, I beg you, pursue the dream. Don’t go be another MBA, are you kidding?!”
Here is the clip below. O’Leary brings the heat around the 3:00 mark:
