The Players Championship gets underway today at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course. The Pete Dye design is most famous for its three finishing holes — the par-5 16th, the par-3 island green 17th and the daunting par-4 18th.
One of the coolest things about Sawgrass is that it’s a publicly accessible golf course, meaning that anyone willing to slap down the hefty greens fee can tee it up where the pros do, which includes Orlando golfer Todd Shannon and some friends.
Playing the iconic 18th hole, Shannon took the opportunity to video one of his friends attempting to hit a drive up the 18th hole when one of the most bizarre things you’ve ever seen on a golf course took place. As soon as the golfer struck his drive, it nailed a duck, sending the bird into the water hazard guarding the left side of the hole in a heap.
The video is amazing in its coincidence, and turns a little graphic when the videographer goes to see what actually made the splash.
